Winter Tablescapes
This is my favorite time of the year! Holiday parties, hot chocolate, Christmas music, family time and most importantly, we get to celebrate the birth of our Savior! We host several large parties right before Christmas, so I start planning early. Because I set so many tables, I like to come up with a theme that ties them all together so they all can be set slightly differently. For these two functions, I will be feeding 20-30 people for seated dinners. This is the first of the three tables I am putting together. Welcome to my Winter White Snowflake Christmas Table Setting!! This post contains affiliate links for your convenience. My Winter White Snowflake Christmas Table Setting The first function we host is our neighborhood progressive dinner. This year, we will have 20 guests for a seated dinner. We host the main course. I have enough of a few things to set for 20, but the three tables I will set will have to be mixed up a little bit. When I found these Lenox Alpine plates with snowflakes, that is what set the ball rolling! The second big event we host is our Christmas Eve dinner for our family and close friends. We have even more guests for that evening and it is also a seated, more formal dinner. I will be posting about that table coming up next, but it also has a snowflake theme, but with a gold color palette. The Place Settings for my Winter White Snowflake Christmas Table Setting Fortunately, I have over 20 of these silver beaded chargers, so this is one piece that will be carried through all of the tables. Because of the patina of my antique table, I really prefer to let more of it show for my place settings. This table is so special to me. My great-grandfather gave it to my great-grandmother in 1900 for their wedding present and it has stayed in my family ever since then and I am so lucky to have it! Because of this, I really struggled with what to do about placemats to further the look. The skies opened when I found these adorable placemats from Hester & Cook! Believe it or not, they are paper and I just love them! I will also be using them on the third table I am setting. I love how the placemats peek out from underneath the chargers. As you can see, it also looks just as nice without the chargers. The starting point for this table was these great Lenox Alpine Plates. Instead of buying the whole set, I just bought the salad plates since they sit on top…a money-saving tip! These plates have the bit of grey/taupe tone to them which nicely offset the white plates. I just love the flair that crystal glassware adds to a table. We are big fine wine drinkers, so using our Riedel Wine Glasses is a must for these special occasions! For this table setting, I wanted to offset them with our Ralph Lauren Glen Plaid wine glasses (they do not make these anymore, unfortunately). The Centerpiece for my Winter White Snowflake Christmas Table Setting In lieu of flowers, I opted to use with natural winter greenery. For this centerpiece, I used 3 mixed bundles of greenery from Trader Joes that were only $5.99 each. I went this direction because I can place the pieces in a random way all the way down the table. Using different species add such lovely texture. Secondly, I placed in the silver sprays (that I have had for years) for a little bit of contrast. I repurposed them from a previous tree and they felt festive to me. Next, I added in the hurricanes and the glitter Christmas trees. Finally, I added in the winter white ornaments and the silver mercury glass votives. We have had so many lovely occasions in this little breakfast area. It would make my grandmother and her mother so happy that there are so many holiday and family events shared around this special table. Hopefully, they are smiling down from heaven!
