“Sunshine Cottage” is my very own beach cottage in Lake Worth Beach, Florida and where I call home. I moved to this eclectic, charming town 2 years ago and I don’t think I ever want to leave! Here is a little “Before & After” of my dining area. More to come on the rest of my house soon…. Wall Color: Sherwin Williams “Watery”Table: Levi Harper DesignChairs: WayfairCorner Lamp: WayfairFish Wine Racks: WayfairBarn Door Hutch: KirklandsChandelier: Home DepotRug: Home GoodsPlantation Shutters: Indian River Shutters The Before… This is what the living/dining area looks like the first time I walked into this house when it was for sale. Kind of BLAH, right?! They pretty much just threw some random furniture around in an attempt to “stage” the place. Nothing was the right size but I could see SO much potential. The After… One of the most important choices: paint color! I knew I wanted something beachy and in the blue-green zone. I chose the color “Watery” by Sherwin Williams. Let me tell you – I LOVEEEE THIS COLOR. I decided to paint the whole living/dining area, the hallways, and one of my guest bedrooms this color. It has a perfect balance of blue and gray tones but is also light and bright feeling. A kitchen table is and should be the focal point of your dining space. I’ve always loved the look of a farmhouse wood table and I think it fits my space perfect. I searched in some retail stores but am so glad I went with a custom table! I found Levi Harper Design on Facebook Marketplace. They do custom wood pretty much anything. I was able to customize the dimensions of the table to my space which works out so well. They’re a local custom wood furniture creator here in south Florida! How gorgeous is the grain on this wood?! It’s got a semi-unfinished look but it is durable and will last forever. Shop The Look… Yes, that is chalk board paint on the wall framing that leads into my kitchen! I also have a full chalk board wall in my kitchen. It took me a long time to decide what kind of window coverings to use. Shutters, blinds, curtains, which one would be best?! The windows in my dining and living area are pretty big and one of them is behind my couch so I knew curtains we’re going to work. I’m so glad I decided to put in plantation shutters. I splurged a little (or a lot) and put these throughout my house. It really ended up being SO worth the money. The coastal beach house vibe that I was going for really wouldn’t have been complete without the shutters. They create a bright and airy look and are the most functional in my opinion! Plantation shutters let a lot of light through and allow you to still have privacy. You can tilt them up or down so no one can see it. They also open up all the way! This anchor on my wall right here was really the inspiration for my whole house. I found this anchor piece at Home Goods even before I had a house! I saw it one day and didn’t care if I didn’t have anywhere to put it yet – I just had to buy it! It became what I designed my whole living space around – the look and feel, the colors, etc. I’m not one to have my table set all the time with fancy plates. Don’t get me wrong, I love the look of it but it’s just not practical for me right now. I went with a simple centerpiece – glass with wine corks in it! It looks cute and I get to throw my corks in there after I drink the wine. Confession: There are a lot more wine corks than this…. My kitchen is not huge so I knew I needed some extra storage. The cabinet that I found at Kirkland’s is perfect! It has an area where I can display some fun things and also a part that is closed for storage that you don’t want people to see. I’m a sucker for a sign with words or quotes on them. They are all over my houses – these are just a few that are in my dining room. Like It?? Pin It! Eat, Drink, Beach, RepeatOnly The Best Updates!
