The perfect gift to communicate: You are Beautiful, You are Strong, and Your Story is Powerful. Each piece broken. Each piece restored. Each piece adorned with gold – inside and out. Fawkes Creations is excited to announce that all vases are now waterproof and can be used with real flowers. This is accomplished by coating the inside of the vase with a liquid resin that, once cured, is clear and waterproof. Though each one is thoroughly tested, it is recommended that for long-term use, the vases are only filled 1/3 to 1/2 of the way with water. Each piece has been broken, for it is my belief that for these pieces to truly represent the beautiful message of Kintsugi, they need to go through the entire process of being broken, rebuilt, and adorned with gold. And each vase is painted on both the outside and the inside. It’s a long process, but in my heart and mind, so very worth it in order to bring to life the beauty that can come from brokenness. This artwork is to serve as a reminder of weaknesses and the strength we can find in them. Each piece will come with a card explaining the artwork and the message of Kintsugi, as well as a card explaining this specific line of Kintsugi artwork. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! —– CARE INSTRUCTIONS: The outside of these vases can be cleaned with a damp cloth or Magic Eraser. The resin inside can be rinsed out as needed. Though each vase is thoroughly tested in its ability to hold water, it is ultimately a piece of artwork, and we thus recommend only filling these vases 1/3 to 1/2 of the way with water for the long term protection of the piece. We also recommend emptying the vase of water and allowing it to dry when not in use. *All photos are taken to show the artwork as life-like as possible, but please understand the actual color may vary slightly from your monitor. All measurements are approximate. **The message of Kintsugi is important, and so no gold lines are merely decoration. Each line covers a break or damaged area of some kind. However, occasionally, there may be small differences between the gold lines on the inside and outside of a piece; this is caused from chips or cracks in the glaze that are not actual breaks and are therefore not on both sides of the ceramic piece. —– THE INTENTION BEHIND THIS LINE: The Ahavah line of Kintsugi pieces are carefully crafted from various styles of pottery that were abandoned and discarded. They have been purchased, restored, and given new life. What once was lost is redeemed through love. At Fawkes Creations we believe the art form of Kintsugi is a powerful picture of this redeeming love. There is a great hope we have for healing despite our most bitter pain and brokenness. Each piece of the Ahavah Line is completely unique and carefully chosen to make sure that no two pieces are ever the same, illustrating beautifully the uniqueness of each one of our stories. —– GIVING THIS AS A GIFT? Each piece will come wrapped in beautiful teal fabric tied with gold ribbon (underneath several layers of bubble wrap to keep your piece safe!). —— PROCESSING/SHIPPING: Normal processing time is 1-3 days, but if you need something quickly, let us know and we will be happy to get your piece shipped as quickly as possible. After your piece is shipped, normal shipping time with Priority Mail is 1-3 days within the United States, and 6-10 days with USPS Priority Mail International Shipping, though actual shipping time is not guaranteed and will depend on the option you select at checkout. (For international orders, we do recommend USPS Priority Mail International for more reliable service and faster delivery time; USPS First Class International services have proven unreliable in the past.) —————–Artist Statement———————– My love for Kintsugi began the first moment I heard of its message. As I pieced back together a beloved, antique pitcher for my sister, I longed to always create such beauty. The message of hope and redemption captivated me, and I wanted to share this message with others. Thus began my journey. I began seeking out pottery pieces that were already broken, marred, and rejected, desiring to give them new life and a second chance, and hopefully inspiring others through the beautiful message of Kintsugi and the hope it displays. I consider it a privilege to participate in sharing this message, and I hope my work is a blessing to others. This artwork has been inspired by the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi, and while I want to hold to the values and message of Kintsugi, my artwork has taken a different direction than the typical approach. It is an approach more true to me, having always loved painting. But also, it is the approach that has allowed me to be more creative. I have found the typical Kintsugi-style methods more limiting in the amount of breakage I can allow a piece to have, not allowing for the intricacy that I long to create. I want my artwork pieces to have elaborate breakage, sometimes coming down to mere crumbs. But this is what I absolutely love! I love to take pieces so shattered that to many they would seem nonredeemable. I love putting together the smithereens with such care and affection that the “new” piece has a fresh brilliance for having been so loved. And I love adorning each one of the cracks by hand, giving each break the tender attention it needs. So, my method does differ from tradition, but it holds to the values of this ancient artwork to bring fresh life and beauty to brokenness. I have fallen in love with the entire process – from the seeking out of pieces to use, to the breaking, piecing together, and painting. However, my favorite part is definitely putting the piece back together. It’s beautiful to see each one come back to life…and it also fulfills my childhood dream of being a professional puzzle worker. What I have found as I continue to invest in this passion is that often times these pieces speak truths
