Stunning vintage Roseville Pottery jardeniere and matching pedestal are part of the Futura line, dating to the 1920s. Futura, like its name, was an ultra-modern series, with an Art Deco focus on geometric shapes and modern lines. Frank Ferrell was the designer. Both jardeniere and pedestal are polychrome — gray (with blue and green variations in the glaze) with raised pink and blue leaves. The planter is the 9 inch size (616-9). It has a striking angular shape and two small handles. Both these large pieces are rare and fit in a variety of decors, from Art Deco to mid century modern to contemporary. Neither piece is signed. The pedestal has 616/100 marked on the top (in pencil?), but this is covered when the planter is in place. Both pieces have some weathering and variation in their glazes. The jardeniere has a few small issues: two small spots on the base that may be shallow chips or repairs (they’re white, but pretty flat) and a couple of smaller spots under the outside rim that look like glaze skips. The inside is crackled from age and discolored from being used as a planter. The pedestal has a crack near the bottom, which goes all the way through but doesn’t affect its stability. Size: The jardeniere is 9 inches tall x 13.5 inches wide. The pedestal is 18.25 inches tall x 11.3 inches wide (at the base). Together, they’re 27.25 inches tall. NOTE ON SHIPPING: The shipping price is an estimate based on shipping via USPS ground service to the West Coast. Your price may be less, and if so I’ll refund any overpayment. The pieces will be carefully wrapped and shipped in two different boxes. Please contact me ahead of time if you want a more exact estimate of your shipping costs, or if you’d like to upgrade the service. Note: The price quoted is good only for the 48 contiguous states. Contact me for an adjustment if you live in Alaska or Hawaii. Roseville Pottery was hugely popular in the middle of the 20th century and collectors today are equally enthusiastic! We are reasonably sure this vase is a knockoff produced (probably in Japan) during the same time period. It is very nicely done and certainly has the \
