Besonderheiten Material: Glas Größe: 12cm Verschiedene Farben Nicht Spülmaschinenfest In Handarbeit gefertigt

Designed in 1936. Inspired By Waves. The Aalto Vase, also known as the Savoy Vase, is a world-famous piece of glassware and an iconic Finnish design created by architect Alvar Aalto and his wife Aino. It was one of a range of custom furnishings and fixtures created by the Aaltos, and used in the luxury Savoy restaurant in Helsinki that opened in 1937 (You can still dine at the Savoy today. Be sure to try the tasty Vorschmack, and have a Calvados with your coffee for us!). Of the vase, Aalto said, \

ART
A staple of modern Scandinavian design since its first appearance in 1936, Iittala’s iconic Alvar Aalto series of vases is one of the most famous glass objects in the world. Taking its inspiration from waves in the sea, the simple, organic shape of the glass was originally viewed as revolutionary but is now seen as a symbol of Finnish design. Now available in a wide range of colours and sizes, every piece of the Alvar Aalto glass collection continues to be mouth blown at the Iittala factory in Finland.

Alvar Aalto
Iittala’s Aalto vase is an organically shaped icon of Finnish design and glasswork. Alvar Aalto created the Aalto vase in different sizes and colours for the World Fair in Paris in 1937. Legendary shape of the Aalto vase is derived from the Finnish landscape and lakes. The shape has been reinterpreted ever since and there is nowadays a variety of different objects in the world famous Aalto shape. Alvar Aalto would never demonstrate how his glass objects should be used but wanted the user to decide. This freedom to interpret the origins and function may be what has helped keep the Aalto collection so contemporary and fresh. Pieces can be displa
yed as a group or as a single, exclusive work of art, a pleasure to own or to give as a present. Every vase is mouth-blown at the Iittala glass factory in Finland.
