Description: A beautiful handmade Mary Gregory painted frosted blue colored glass vase. The vase, which is made of glass, has a hand painting, in white coloring, depicting a young girl on a swing tied to a tree branch with a dog at her feet. She is wearing a dress with a ribbon. The tree has leaves and the scene shows grass on the ground as well as a bush. The scene is painted in great and beautiful details of both the girl and the dog, all at one side of the vase. The painting is signed C Steeley and dated 1971. The piece is marked on the bottom with the very faint letters WG, for Westmorland Glass. A great looking glass vase to decorate around your home or to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. contact me for a postal cost. This majestic vase is a wonderful example of the design talent of the young Josef Hospodka. Square top which transforms through the prunts into a four pointed base. Formed entirely at the furnace this vase was produced by Chribska. The combination of the organic form and the encased coloured glass is truly fantastic. A ‘must have’ vase for any collector/fan of the work of Josef Hospodka. The item is approximately 11 x 11 cm (4.3 x 4.3 inches) across the top, 8 x 8 cm (3.15 x 3.15 inches) at base and 22.5 cm (8.86 inches) high. Weight approximately 3.1 kg (6.8 lbs). The vase is in good condition with no cracks or bruises but there is one small chip and flea bites to the base. There are surface scratches on the base and some marking on one of the prunts. All commensurate with its age. Nothing detracts from the quality of this vase. All items are carefully packed so that they arrive in perfect condition. Please be aware… when you are buying vintage glassware, you should expect some age related signs of wear such as very small fine surface scratches/marks. Also many of the items are hand made, they may have small imperfections such as bubbles, inclusions & lumps within the glass and often tool marks from where they have been shaped and worked in the manufacturing process. These are not usually seen by collectors as faults or damage, but as part of the character of hand made glass and are not usually mentioned in the description.
Vases
Together with the Titania and Carageen pattern, Melusin began to play a special role in the production of Johann Loetz Witwe until 1913. Famous designers like Adolf Beckert, Josef Hoffmann and Marie Kirschner worked with this decoration.This vase in particular has a very detailed and finely crafted silver overlay together with a deep and intense blue color. It is worked in a high quality and in a perfect condition which makes this vase a perfect decoration.
